About the event

A Beginner's Guide to why we choose to shoot film and how to shoot film. Plus an additional time allotted for hands-on shooting to pracatice what we've learned. 

THE WHY: Clarin J is a full time commercial photographer who made the switch to film from a strictly digital background. She will be going through “The Why” of film photography:

  • How the Industry is Changing 
  • Film + The Creative Process
  • Pros and 'Cons' of Film 
  • Incorporating film into your life/business 

THE HOW: Jaymie Belknap is a professional film photographer specializing in the full analog photo process. She founded Cracked Film Lab in Spokane to revive the love for film in the digital era. She will be going through "the how" of film photography:

  • How Film Made Me a Photographer 
  • Film in the Digital Age 
  • Explore Cameras, Stocks, and Formats 
  • The Development Process
  • Tips, Techniques, and Insights to Shooting Film 

WORKSHOP DETAILS: 

When: Saturday 2/24/24 10-1pm 

Where: The Now Now Space 309 w 2nd Suite 101, Spokane, WA 

Price: $250

Includes: 

  • 2 hours of teaching / q&a time 
  • 1 hour hands on practice shooting in studio and surrounding area (help loading film, changing settings, shooting indoor vs outdoor, answer questions, etc.)   
  • One roll of film for shooting during workshop 
  • Film development + scan of one roll by cracked film lab 
  • Personalized feedback of roll by cracked film lab

WHAT TO BRING: 

  • your camera (we'll provide a roll of film!) 
  • a notebook and pen 
  • any and all questions!
